Following his high school education, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he leveraged his disciplined military experience to pursue higher education, earning a degree in Accounting. George applied his sharp intellect and commitment throughout a distinguished professional career, culminating in a nearly twenty-year tenure as the Chief Financial Officer for a multi-million dollar company. He was renowned for his unwavering dedication, often working late into the night, but more importantly, he was known as the ultimate problem solver—the person everyone turned to when a difficult solution was required.
While George achieved immense success professionally, his greatest joy was his family. He shared 52 loving years of marriage with his wife, Linda Schultz. His generous and humorous personality made him the life of the party, and he found simple pleasure in playing pinochle and gathering around his player piano to enjoy music. His laughter and huge sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Schultz, and his sister, Dorothy Torsney and her husband, Richard. George is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, of Ooltewah, Tennessee; his children, Michael Schultz, Lynette Broudrick (Robert), and Kurt Schultz (Lori). He leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Kairi, Eva, and William. He is also survived by his twin brother, David Schultz and wife Elaine, as well as his nephews, Mark Torsney and Andrew Schultz, and their spouses.
A Celebration of George’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Valley View location of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm. He will be laid to rest in the Collegedale Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Army Funeral Honor Guard.
George will be remembered as a devoted, hard-working, adventurous, wise, and brave individual whose legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
