

Hazel was born in Ooltewah and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. After graduation, she lived in Cleveland, Ohio and later in New York City where she worked in healthcare at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She returned to Chattanooga and retired from Kraft. She was a member of Fields Chapel AME Zion and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Drew, and James Lane; grandsons, Dale Edwards and Bernard Pitts; sons-in-law, Donald Edwards and Aussie Lee Humphrey; and christened daughters, Brenda Wilson and Rubena Pitts.
Surviving are her daughters, Angela Edwards and Romanzia Humphrey; sons, Robert (Wilma) Sanders and Gregory (Angela) Sanders; grandchildren, Africa (Rodney) Humphrey, Drew (Traci) Edwards, Amber (Duane) Edwards, Urius (Tosha) Young, Joseph Sanders, Carolyn Nicholson, Gerald Hubbard, Andrew Padila, Kenneth Humphrey, Kevin (Crystal) Humphrey, Vesta Wilson, Vieka Wilson, Sabrina (Thomas) Marin, Shannon Sanders, Shaleah Sanders and Derek Pitts; spiritual granddaughter, Monica McLaurine; dear friends, Ms. Maggie Stuart and Ms. Mary Catherine Peek; special nieces, Gilda Petty, Lydia Chambers and Bridgette Chapman; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, August 7, 2023 at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the funeral home with Rev. Roxianne S. Sherles and Rev. Gale Hendrick officiating.
Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Repass will be at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, 8120 Old Cleveland Pike, Ooltewah, TN 37363
