

He was the son of the late Oscar and Fronie Johnson and was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Meredith McCravy Johnson, sister, Margaret “Sis” Juanita Hall, and three brothers, William “Bud” Haskell Johnson, Alvie “Joe” Johnson and Edward “Snooks” Gene Johnson.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
James was the owner of J. J.’s Classic Mustang Parts, Inc., and was a member of the Alhambra Shrine - Harrison Lodge, Knights of Columbus and Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union #43. He also served on the Board of Director’s for the Mustang Club of America and was past president of the local Mustang Club.
Survivors include his two children, Scherri Johnson Hickman, of Soddy Daisy, TN, Jennifer Johnson Ellison, of Rossville, GA, six grandchildren, Stormie Dawn Miles, Jamathan Blaine Horton, Autumn Flolena Horton, Cody Austin Bearden, Kaeli Waymon Ellison, Jesse Colden Bearden, two great grandchildren, Emma Dawn Miles, Hunter Lewis Miles, brother, Jackie Marine Johnson, of Lake City, FL, sister, Mary Fred Petty, of Chattanooga, TN, loving partner, Kathy Jefferis and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
