

A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church. He had been employed with Home Depot and after his retirement he worked for Food City.
He loved woodworking and building things with his hands. James never met a stranger and was the most dependable person. He loved helping his neighbors. He always shared Jesus with every opportunity he had, and was a friend to all. He loved big!
His hobbies were spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren and adventures with his loving wife Gale. He loved the mountains and the ocean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.F. and Annie Williford and a sister, Carol Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Williford; two daughters, Jeannie (David) Ivey and Vickie (Jr.) McGaha; four grandchildren, Garrett, Blair, Erin and Weston; one great-grandchild, Madilyn Grace; sister, Margie Ridge; brother, Charlie Williford; several nieces and nephews; special friends, The Brooks family and the Tucker family
All CDC guidelines will be in place at the funeral home which include wearing a mask and social distancing.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the chapel immediately following the visitation with Pastor Jeff Duncan and Pastor Al Miller officiating.
Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
