John A. Fletcher, 84, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn G. Fletcher; two sons Steven and Russell Fletcher of Chattanooga; daughter Nancy Fletcher of Chattanooga; sister Dorothy Holland of Smyrna, Tennessee; four nephews, a niece, and several grand-nieces and nephews. John was born in Palmer, Tennessee to the late John Reece and Corrine Pocus Fletcher. He graduated from Grundy County High School in 1947 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in 1951. He then served four years in the United States Air Force. In 1955 he began a 35-year career with Pioneer Bank in Chattanooga, retiring in 1990. He was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Harrison officiating. A private burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Missions, Ralph Pennington Men’s Prayer Breakfast, or the General Operating Fund of Tyner United Methodist Church, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
