

Lawrence lived in Chattanooga most of his life and was a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church. He served in the US Air Force during World War II. He lived with joy, love and good humor, especially while fishing, golfing, traveling and enjoying the outdoors. He instilled in his children the same loves and enthusiasm for life along with self-confidence and self-reliance. Great memories were made while participating in the activities he loved and shared with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by father and mother Henry Douglas Hudson, Sr. and Carrie Belle Griffies Hudson; wife Mildred Tate; sisters Miriam and Julia (Jack Lovell); brothers Henry D. Hudson, Jr. (Grace Tallent), Lucius Putnam Hudson (Dorothy Pearson), and Arthur Hudson (Ruth Cagle).
He is survived by loving wife Pat Hudson; daughters Janet Lynne Hudson of Knoxville and Joyce Elaine Hudson Stewart (Robert) of Knoxville; step-daughter Pam Martin and step-granddaughter Chelsea Rae Martin of Hixson. Special loving care-giving nieces and nephews Deanne and Jim Morgan, David and Lynn Hudson, Fay Mitchell and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews along with dear friends A. M. Roderick, Tommy Basham, Ed Sorrick, Ben and Wanda Braden and Dee Dee Hale. The family also thanks friends and neighbors in the Applebrook Community, Hospice of Chattanooga and staff of the Hospice Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Martin officiating. A brief graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Ooltewah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of Harrison Bay State Park or to the Ronald McDonald Houses of Chattanooga or Knoxville.
