He was the assistant Pastor of Harrison First Baptist Church on 58 Highway. He retired from TVA, Watts Bar Plant and was a teamster and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Champion, son, Wayne Champion, parents, Calvin and Ella Champion, 2 granddaughters, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Elaine) Champion of Harrison, TN., and Mark (Valerie) Champion of Tavares, FL., 5 granddaughters, 1 grandson, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, June 11, 2020 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Marvin McClendon and Pastor John Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
