Mr. Luis Omegar Velez

Mr. Velez was member of Collegedale Spanish-American Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Vietnam Veterans Association.

He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

His father, Omegar Velez and grandmother, Monserrate Crespo preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Nieves Velez; mother, Julia Hernandez of Camuy, Puerto Rico; children, Yesenia (Joaquin) Velez of Puerto Rico; Orlando (Jeanenne) Montoya of Washington, DC; Zenia (Robert) Cabrera of Cleveland; Charles Velez of Ringgold; Luis Velez, Jr. of Bridgeport, Connecticut; brother, Hilberto Santiago of Camuy, Puerto Rico; and grandchildren, Adriana Rivera, Miguel Rivera; Caragan Cabrera, & Lilly Cabrera.

Graveside memorial services with full military honors will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Joel Barrios officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.
