She was the daughter of the late Viktor and Martha Korgel and was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Cannon, grandson, James Lewis Cannon and two brothers, Viktor and Johann Korgel.
Maria was born in Germany and came to America in 1951 and became a U.S. citizen in 1960.
She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her six children, Lela (Richard) Petty, Ooltewah, TN., Sue (Charles) Stanfield, Cleveland, TN., Walter (Cindy) Cannon, Apison, TN., Mike (Marilyn) Cannon, Soddy-Daisy, TN., Johnny (Rebecca) Cannon, Cleveland, TN., Sandy (Jeff) Cardwell, Harrison, TN., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. David Bragg officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
