Richard Lamar Shadwick

Richard Lamar Shadwick, husband, father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 73. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, Richard was known for his strong work ethic and his immense love for his family.

For many dedicated years, Richard worked in the construction industry, in asphalt paving. He took great pride in his work, contributing to the roads and infrastructure of his community with skill and reliability.

Richard’s greatest joy came from his large and loving family. He was of the Baptist faith. Outside of work, he was an avid fisherman, finding peace and contentment on the water.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Shadwick, three children, Melissa Goines-Skelton (and husband John) of Ooltewah, TN, Jeff Shadwick of Ooltewah, TN, Jason Shadwick (and wife Vicki) of Hixson, TN.

Richard's legacy continues through his eight precious grandchildren, who brought him boundless happiness: Skyler, Larissa, Jameson, Jason, Jr., Matthew, Hope, Faith, and Noah.

He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ferris, of Hixson, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was the son of the late Ephram and Annie Lou Shadwick and was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles and George Shadwick.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
