Roger Henry Brock went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 7, 2021. He graduated from UTC with a business degree and he entered into partnership with his mother, Evelyn Long Brock at Magic Carpets; he eventually became the owner. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry F. Brock and Evelyn Long Brock.

He is survived by his wife of 37 ½ years, the love of his life, Diana Monson Brock, retired coach of East Ridge Middle School, and his five children: Katherine (Bobby) Lawrence of Murfreesboro, TN; Rachel (Anthony) Guy of Brandon, MS; Rusty (Annette) Brock of Soddy Daisy, TN; Laura (Adam) Vaughn of Chattanooga, TN; and Meredith (Jacob) Purkey of Olympia, WA. Grandchildren: Madison Lee and Jacob Graff; Jacob Lawrence; Elizabeth, Jack, and Maryanna Guy; Autumn and Ivy McClure; Collin Le; Simone Matherly; and Abram Vaughn. Sisters: Mary (Tim) Andrews of Chattanooga, TN and Polly (Russ) Westbrook of Acworth, GA. Sisters-in-law: Janice Cornett (David Rye) of Chattanooga, TN and Amy (Michael) Goldberg of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Nieces and nephews: Chris and Matt Andrews; Cal Westbrook; Melody and Sarah Goldberg. Partner in crime, Bertha Hague.

Roger was a great family man who loved caring for everyone. His love of the Lord was undeniable. He took great pride in his wife’s coaching accomplishments and coaching his children throughout their childhoods. His love of UTC was obvious by his UTC shirts and hats, and his attendance at basketball and football games. He found great joy in going to the movies, vacationing at the beach with his extended family, fine dining, planning family reunions, his Corvette, debating any topic, and his dogs. He was a member of the River City Corvette Club.

We respectfully request that all current mandates set forth by the CDC be adhered to. This includes “social distancing” and wearing masks on the premises. We do not want any other family to suffer due to this pandemic.

Memorial contributions may be made to any of the following: Chattanooga Humane Society (Humane Educational Society website), Scrappy’s Cupboard for emergency food (423-425-4761), or Ainsley’s Angels of Central MS.

The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm Saturday in the gym at Morris Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Morris Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Mason officiating.

Interment will be in Ooltewah Cemetery.

This is Steve Taylor of southern Advertising and sign service. I met Roger and his mother around 1986. We made the signs for Roger. I would stop in and see them periodically. Roger was a great guy and we enjoyed talking about politics and our family. I am so sorry to hear of his death. Those of us who who have been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ will see each other again. Steve Taylor

Diana, Mary, and the rest of the family, I was shocked and saddened to read of Roger's death. I am so, so sorry you are having to go through this. Roger was always so kind and friendly to me. He made me feel like he was happy to see me. I will sure miss seeing him at the UTC ballgames. You have been and will continue to be in my prayers as you go through the coming days. May Christ comfort and help you.

Diana, I am so,so sorry for your loss. I remember seeing Roger around the gym during East Ridge games and John and I playing cards with the two of you. You have a wonderful family and lots of love surrounding you now. I am praying for you.

Roger was the family historian, organizer of many reunions, and a wonderful cousin. We are all blessed to have grown up in a family full of summer barbeques, cranking out homemade ice cream, many games of hide and seek, catching fireflies, many thanksgiving dinners, as well as several family gatherings around a table of games or puzzles. We look forward to enjoying these times together again, but his absence at all of our family gatherings will be profound.
But, I know he is with the lord, and for that I take great comfort.

Beverly and I got to know Roger when our son Brett played ball for him as a 9 yr old with Rusty, and our son Cal played ball for him as a 6 yr old with Laura.
Through that relationship we went to several of the UTC basketball games with them.
Roger was always fun loving, cared about "all" of the kids, and spent many hrs in many sports venues spending time with his son Rusty, his daughters, and all of the others who played for him that he treated like his own as well.
He was very proud of all of his children, and he and Diana formed quite the team splitting up responsibilities of so many active children. I was amazed at how often both of them made it to so many of their events.
Great family, a very good man, and a lot to be proud of.
Well done good and faithful servant.

It was with a heavy heart I read of Roger’s passing this morning. While our paths only crossed seldom since my early days of practice, Roger and Evelyn were among the first clients I worked with in my career as a CPA. Roger was always a joy to work with. Found him to be an extraordinarily astute business person. I actually probably learned more from him about retail business than he learned from me. My condolences to the entire family. May his memory forever be a blessing to each of you,
