I will always remember James Andrew Estrada. I remember the last time we saw him and my husband was not feeling good. James Sr prayed over my husband and less then 3 hours my husband was better. James SR was a man of god. He will be miss by so many who loved and cared for home. Until we all meet in heaven.

To Jimbo my brother I knew you before I met you you’re a kid who hit the ball on the tracks and Damon in Churchill Churchill Park I couldn’t believe it till we played you then you hit the ball on the tracks unbelievable what power later we met playing bass baseball softball and basketball in a different leaguesWe played at Waveland Park and HumboldtPark softball we won A championship and went to Puerto Rico what a great time we had out there also I had a pleasure being your mom and family brothers and sisters we love those tacos she used to make and share with us The parties at your house your moms house you were there in my time of grieving thank you I’ll always remember your picnics you block parties your texts really no one there was a funeral parties retirement and more I miss those days when we used to talk at the city gas pumps called you big truck the turtle talked about rules and your children and your family how proud you were of them remember your wedding to Rose Waukegan we went to Dancing Deny the way you are the happiest man there you could stop smiling you are so happy Jim I got so many other memories too many right now may rest in peace until we meet again I will miss you God bless from Sonia Frank Reyes and family

I work with Jimmy Estrada for 20 years. Outside of work his love was family and sports. He would throw a block party once a year at his house. Good Times to last a memory. I would bring a bottle of homemade wine and he would make over it.

Jimbo you made an impact in my heart...you will be deeply missed

We remember Jimbo as a loving person.  Always trying to  keep everyone in the loop whether it being his block club parties, his annual barbecue or regarding others.  A die hard Cub Fan and one of the best DJ’s.  Jimbo, you will always be in our hearts and we will truly miss your welcoming smile.

Jim was always active and full of spirit. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the YMCA where I use to work. We sparked up conversation in the wight room and from their I learned of his faith and passion to DJ. We would share the word and from there he would always look for opportunities to allow me to DJ at events he was unable to host.  He always spoke of how proud he was of his sons. He was an amazing soul and will be greatly missed. Although I am unable to attend the wake physically, I share my love and condolences with his family. May he rest in peace and enjoy the beauty of heavens best. Love you Jim.

Wow, lost for words which is rare for me. Jim! my season greetings, birthday wishes, Mother’s Day blessings! I thought I was special but you did it for many. Traitor :) How you did that, work and manage a household and worship the Lord leaves me impressed but not surprised. I’m going to miss the best DJ I care to know. “What becomes of a broken-hearted “, Doo woops, line dances and the smile and laughter that came from you enjoying the scene. I’m not there to share this moment with your friends and family but you’ll always be a fond, beautiful and carefree memory to me. Now Jim, tell me how do I delete your phone number when your presence has been deleted.
Jumbo would probably say, “baby, my special girlfriend, search and press delete, silly. That number was to me on earth. Look up, smile, laugh and remember that Im looking down and around on everyone, laughing, sending hugs and remembering you on all those days and events I used to call. I’m just in another location sending my love”

Jim, your departure from this earth is heartbreaking for us.  We know that you are in God’s hands.  We will miss you smile, whit, jokes and your loving ways.  We  will miss your holidays texts, your block parties, the family picnics with your DJ talents. We have the memories growing up at the family’s gatherings. I have many memories of very good times with Jimbo, Rose, and of course their sons,  all involving smiles, laughter and music. I am deeply saddened by his death.  

I moved from P.R. to the Wicker Park area back in 1968, I did not speak English very well when I met Jim that summer.  Soon I was introduced to the rest of his friends. Jim asked me if I could play baseball  I said  yes but I don't speak English, he said to me with a big smile "you don't have  to speak, just play ball" we also play many  other sports. I Remember all the parties at his house listening to songs like ( I found love on a two way street) I had a great time growing up with him, his brothers and sister. He  has been like a brother to me and my family ever since.  I will continue to pray for his family during these trying times. He will be missed but not forgotten. To Rose, Eric and James and the entire Estrada Family.    Like to share one of many stories with Jim.   About the time we kidnapped him in my dads large station wagon  and we drove around all night.  We had Jim setting in the middle, so he could't get out.  We played great music, surrounded by good friends.  It was the kind of night that you did not want to end.  The song that I always remember Jim signing is the Temptation Song "Just My Imagination".  He always reminded me how he had to explained to his mom that we Kidnapped  him on a school night.  SorryJim, that you missed school that day....I would do it all over again....See you soon my friend. Rest In Peace. 

Jimbo. was  a good and loving person. He was so humble, always  a smile on his face, We are so glad we had the opportunity to call Jimbo our friend and will never forget our times at Clemente.  He was an awesome DJ, good friend and an amazing man of God.  Rest In Peace old friend and until we meet again.

Jimbo has been a friend of mine and a big brother for many years. I was truly blessed to have been his co-worker and honored to see his smile daily. Jim had an ear for the hits and could keep any crowd on the dance floor, as he did for me and my family on several occasions. Thank you Jimbo for your advice and words of wisdom throughout the years and always encouraging me to seek the Lord for truth. We shared a love for our Father in heaven and the Bible,  and I will always cherish the deep love you displayed for your family. Jim was a shining light in my life many years ago.  I hold many fond family moments and they all involve laughter and music and love.  My condolences to Rose, his children, his siblings Peter, Chuy, Laura and all those that loved and cherished him.

I knew Jimbo from elementary school at Wicker Park, we were patrol boys back then. We both attended Roberto Clemente High School, class of 1976 and double dated prom night. We kept in touch through his annual picnics. Jimbo was a great friend, family man and loved to DJ. Take care amigo, until we meet again. Peace be with the Estrada Family.

Mr. Estrada has always been someone who walks into a room and instantly puts a smile on your face. I have lots of great memories, but one in particular that will stay with me forever. I owned a bakery for some time and every couple of months or so he would call me sooo early in the morning to come grab breakfast before we opened and he would buy my whole case out. Just to support me and show me love. He was always a generous and told me how proud he was of me, and I’m not even family. But that’s how he treated everyone, and it’s just so sad he cannot be with us any more. You will always be missed. Rest In Peace. Xoxo

Jim was a great guy and a true friend and colleague.  It was a pleasure to work with him whether on our city job or preforming at his block party.  Jim was a class act.   I guess God needed a DJ and Jim received the call.  He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts.

I met him when Rose & he began dating & he fit right in with the fans of our softball team. Ok, he fit in with the women, too. He could have a wicked wit but never mean. I’ll miss Jimbo! The world won’t be the same.

Uncle Jim I will miss u so very much. When summer was in the hospital going through chemo and radiation u helped me as her mother stay strong for her and prayed over her weak body everytime u came up to the hospital. I believe god heard those prayers and healed her. Rest in peace uncle jim I will miss u and think of u always. I wish I could of had 1 more conversation with you. Just to hear ur voice. Love you uncle jim and will miss u dearly

Jimbo was the funniest one in our group in Chicago's Wicker Park area when he was around 17,18,19. He was mainly good friends with Jimbo while little brother Pete and lil sis Laura used to go to school with us and kinda watched each others back. Devastated with the news of Jimbo leaving us. One thing attaches us forever  is we are bleed Cubbie Blue Diehard Cub fans. In 2016 we all cried together because our Cubs did it   love you big guy. My memories of you will never erase. R.I.P. Jimbo rest in peace. Me and my children will miss you deeply. You always found a way to make us laugh. We will see you in heaven. Jimbo was one of the kindest men I will ever have known . He was one of the few men I knew that would remember my birthday, every year a text or a phone call.  Thank you for all the advice you gave us regarding our block party, and  always inviting us to yours. And I was truly honored to always be invited and be a part of your family reunion in August. ROSE I pray the Lord give you strength, and the Estrada children and grandchildren. We have definitely lost an incredible human being who will be missed by many. Thank you for always making me smile and laugh. I know the Villa restaurant will also miss you deeply you were also a part of their family. Good times there, we always ran into you there.  It was just amazing to me how you always found time for everyone. I will definitely miss you Jimbo. I know you’re going to be an awesome DJ in heaven. Because you have the best old-school tunes. Our hearts are deeply saddened by the news that JIMBO is no longer with us.  If only the world could be filled with “JIMBO’s” what a beautiful world it would be.

He always made us laugh and his smile was contagious!  His soul was full of kindness and compassion for all.  We have no doubt that he earned the key to the Kingdom.

To Rose, James, Eric and family, you always made him so proud.  Rose, I can remember the time he told me about you when you completed your Masters and he was beaming to tell me this news.  His love for you was so genuine; such a devoted husband.  James and Eric how he would tell me about how successful you both were in being DJ’s and no surprise as you had the best teacher there was!🎶

What I will always remember about JIMBO is the day I saw him in the neighborhood and he told me how he has given his life to Jesus his Savior and he will always put him first.  He had said to me a few times when I saw him that he would love it if Maverick and I would come and sing at his church; sorry that never happened but we will sing for you now JIMBO and we know you’ll hear us.  We know Heaven is smiling with your presence and you have the dance floor packed while your spinning the tunes🎶😊

We are all so blessed to have known JIMBO and he will remain in our hearts forever❤️

Jimmy was a friend & fellow  worker ,always  a smile or a good word. He will be missed  !

Though I did not know James well, I was fortunate to meet him and his wonderful wife when I worked as a guidance counselor at Gordon Tech (now DePaul College Prep) where their sons James and Eric attended high school.  In those years, though our interactions may have been brief, it was easy for me to understand that it was the love and guidance of both James and his wife Rose that made these two young men such wonderful people...hardworking, athletic, respectful...and full of spirit!  My condolences go out to the Estrada family—Rose, Medina, James, and Eric...and the extended “family” of many who are surely feeling the loss of such a wonderful being.
