Maria Lopez

Born on June 26, 1933 in Havana, Cuba to the late Alfredo Méndez and Policarpa Díaz, she fled her beloved homeland and settled in Chicago in the 1960s, where she lived ever since. There, she married her late husband, Francisco López, who preceded her in death in 1993.

She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Ramón and the late Victor, who passed in 2021, a loving mother to Francisco's children, Ralph (Judy) and the late Magda (the late Julius), a doting grandmother to their children, Diego, Celia, Tracey and Ryan, and a proud great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of their children. She was a dear sister to the late Carmen (the late Eugenio) Valdés and the late Alfredo (the late Ángeles "Lini") Méndez, a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend to many.

Visitation for Maria will be on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM. to 11:00 AM., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM., at St Symphorosa Catholic Church (Two Holy Martyrs Parish), 6135 S Austin Ave, Chicago, IL 60638.
