Victor “Vic” Javier Luna, 51, of Chicago IL, passed away on August 7, 2019 in Chicago, IL surrounded by his family. Victor was born in Chicago, IL to Luis and Francisca Luna on July 31, 1968. He attended St. Rita High School. He married Teresa Maria Bautista on April 29, 1995 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, IL. He and Teresa welcomed their son Victor Javier Luna Jr. on January 17, 1996. Victor is survived by his wife Teresa M. (Bautista) Luna , his son Victor J. Luna Jr., his mother Francisca Luna, his sister Martha (Albert) Herrera, his brother Joseph “Tito” (Morela) Luna, a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Victor is preceded in death by his father Luis Luna and his brother Joseph Luna.
Vic was an avid music lover of Mariachi music, Frank Sinatra, and Smooth Jams. He always sent me the “Happy Anniversary” song by Ray, Goodman, & Brown on our two wedding dates (civil court and church). He was known for being so smart, an amazing salesperson, humble, kind, and had a compassionate spirit. But most importantly, Vic always put his family first. Vic was a fan of many sports - Notre Dame Football, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and his beloved White Sox. I remember he even rooted for the Cubs when they won the championship. He even went as far as to buy a Cubs hat! Vic attended as many Notre Dame football games as he could. We traveled to Texas, Indiana, & Michigan to see them play.
Vic was a proud father of his legacy – his son “Victor”. His whole focus was his son and guiding him to be successful in life. He went out of his way for his son. Driving him to and from school. Starting with pre-kindergarten through college. Vic could not be more proud of his son. Unfortunately, Vic was not able to attend Victor’s Notre Dame graduation due to his hospitalization but was able to stream it. Vic would attend Victor’s tee-ball games, bowling games, take him to Pokemon matches and took him for golf lessons. He did all of this unconditionally. He loved his son so much.
Vic was also an amazing husband that I had the pleasure and honor of being married to for almost 26 years. Vic respected me, protected me, and treated me like a delicate flower. We shared so many beautiful memories together that I will treasure always. So farewell my love. You will be greatly missed by your family, siblings, mother, friends, employees, customers and by me and your son – who will continue to make you proud. Until we meet again. Tu eres mi amor eterno!
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Teresa M. Luna. The family of Victor Luna wishes to extend our sincere thanks to RML Specialty Hospital and Rush Surgical ICU. Thank you all for the numerous hospital visits – this lifted Vic’s spirits and were very much appreciated. I like to thank Vic’s personal holistic healer, his spiritual visits from priests and my brother in law - Deacon Al. I would like to thank my family who saw to getting me a car so that I could come and visit Vic on a daily basis since the onset of his illness that started October 13, 2017.
