Virginia D Rich

Mrs. Virginia “Virg" Rich (nee Andrzejewski) passed peacefully in her home on December 22, 2019 in Chicago, IL at the age of 94. She was born May 18, 1925 to the late Joseph and late Ursula (Andrzejewski) in Chicago, IL.

Virginia was the loving wife to the late Leonard Vincent and loving mother of Gregory (Elizabeth), Jeffrey (Mira), the late Leonard Joseph, and William (Patricia). She was the cherished grandmother to Riana, Joseph, Ronald, Rebecca, Kimberly, Stephanie, and Great Grandmother “Mimi” to Gianna.

She is survived in death by many loving nieces, nephews, Goddaughter Marianne Archelous, and dear friend Barbara Rendak. Virginia is preceded in death by siblings Jerri, Edward, Mary, and Estella.

Virginia married the love of her life, Leonard Vincent, in 1950. They lived in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood of Chicago where they had their four sons who Virginia always took great pride in. Virginia had a long career at JC Penney where she made many lifelong friends. She spent many summers camping in Twin Lakes with best friend, the late Joanie Witt. The birth of her first grandchild in 1984 brought her to Virginia Beach, where she lived for 27 years. While there, she was an active volunteer for Social Outreach at Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

Virginia had a real zest for life, and cared very deeply about her family and friends. She was always the life of the party, loved having a beer, watching the Bears and Cubs, and always ensured that everyone around her had a good time. Virginia loved playing cards and taught all of her grandchildren how to play poker, which is now one of their a favorite pastimes, thanks to her. "Virgie" will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.

Funeral Saturday, December 28, 2019, closing prayers 9:45 a.m. from Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 W. Archer Ave, (Edward A. Tylka Manager/Director), Chicago to St. Symphorosa Church, Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Virginia's final resting place will be Resurrection Cemetery.
