

Maria Consolacion D. Bayulot, 104, a retired teacher for 33 years in the Philippines, died January 15, 2013 at the Windsor Gardens Convalescent Home where she lived for almost 10 years. Her family, friends, co-workers and staff at the nursing home endearingly called her Nanay or Nanay Connie.
Nanay Connie was born on November 30, 1908, in Bayamabang, Pangasinan, Philippines, the second child of Mariano Y. Daran and Maria D. Mariano. They lived in Dupax, Nueva Vizcaya where the family made their home.
A precocious child from an early age, she showed her gift for spelling and language and won all the competitions in those categories against older students. Following high school and taking courses to allow her to teach, she began teaching in March 1931 and on April 9, 1932, she married Eugenio D. Bayulot. She was the first teacher of her children. Teaching during the day, she went to night classes and finished a Bachelor's degree in Education. She and her husband raised five children. Lolita, who became a division school supervisor, Violeta, who worked as a senior civil rights officer for the Federal Government, Romeo, a radiologist technician (now deceased) Jimmy, a certified electronics technician; and Evangeline who worked for the County of San Diego, in California.
Connie Baluyot, widowed in November 1973, came to the United States in 1975. She found work with the Norfolk Public Health Department and when she moved to San Diego in 1978, she worked for the California State Employment Corporation. She also did volunteer work and wrote articles for senior citizen newsletters in Norfolk and San Diego.
Connie became an American citizen on August 22, 1980, in San Diego. She spent her life in her second retirement productively. She loved to read and write and it showed in her writings and books. She traveled extensively around the country and to Europe and the Middle East. In addition, she enjoyed gardening, dancing and doing needlecraft until she could no longer do those hobbies.
Survivors include her three daughters, Vi Baluyot of Washington, DC; Evangeline Bayulot Egaran (Jesse) of Chula Vista, California, Lolita Baluyot-Pasibe of Naga City; son, Jimmy Baluyot (Conchita) of San Isidro Nueva Ecija; daughter-in-law Luzviminda Baluyot of Bucalan, all in the Philippines, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral Services are arranged by Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey in Chula Vista, California, before the body is flown to the Philippines for Internment.
