

Dan was born in Sanford NC, and travelled the world with his parents (Steven & Kitty) and his brother Tim. In the 1960’s and 1970’s Dan; along with three more siblings born along the way, lived in Nigeria, Kenya (Mike), Nicaragua (Dave), and El Salvador (Nora). Dan was eleven when the family returned to the States. The family resided on the Hopi Reservation and in Phoenix, AZ, and Grover Beach, CA. In the early 1990’s Dan went off to San Diego for a few years, then lived in San Francisco before returning to San Diego.
Dan graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Santa Maria, attended Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, San Diego City College, and San Diego State University. Dan studied psychology, nursing, mental health and addiction treatment, and later computer networks and repair. He received multiple certificates and certifications in these fields.
Dan was truly a Renaissance man of many talents and abilities. He worked fifteen years as a restaurant chef, ten years with mental health and addiction clients, five years as an independent masseur, two years as a travel agent and tour guide, and for the last several years as an independent computer specialist. Dan’s career goals were centered around care and empathy for others.
Dan was fascinated with the human mind, a great listener and creative. Dan enjoyed reading science fiction, attending plays and musicals with the family, singing in a choir, and was our Master Chef when we got together for barbeques. He really loved to cook! Dan will be remembered for his kindness and steadiness, and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Dan is survived by his mother and father, three brothers, one sister, five nephews, ten aunts and uncles, and eleven first cousins.
A Funeral Mass and Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, April 6th at 3:00PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel 2020 Alaquinas Drive, San Ysidro.
