

Dino worked as a forklift operator for Dixieline Lumber, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving and kind man whose warmth and presence touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Dino enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and was known for loving a good hamburger, pizza, and a cold beer, moments that brought him comfort and joy and often created memories with those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia Nelson; his daughters, Melissa Egan(Christopher) and Yvonne Chaparro; his sons, Gabriel Nelson (Ericka) and Jeremiah Nelson (Patricia); his cherished 9 grandchildren: Gabriel Nelson Jr., Alexis Salzwedel, Ethan Nelson, Austin Nelson, Avanah Nelson, Katelyn Egan, Dominic Nelson, Anthony Egan, and Arielle Nelson; his sisters, Teresa Baca (Raymond), Patricia Herrera, and Jennifer Herrera; and his brothers, Raymond Herrera (Stella) and Freddie Herrera.
Dino was preceded in death by his father, Hilario Herrera Sr.; his mother, Irene Herrera; and his brothers, Edward Herrera and Michael Herrera.
Dino’s loving heart, kindness, and the memories he created with those he loved will be cherished forever. Whether sharing a meal, a laugh, or simply his company, he made those around him feel loved. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel 753 Broadway Chula Vista, CA 91910 for family and friends to gather, honor, and celebrate Dino’s life.
