
Humberto Estrada, age 54, passed away on February 15, 2026. Born on May 19, 1971, Humberto will be remembered as hard-working, brave, adventurous, beloved, cherished, compassionate, generous, gentle, honest, humorous, inspirational, kind-hearted, loyal, patient, resilient, selfless, thoughtful, wise, devoted, hilarious, and faithful.
Born in Mexico, Humberto was one of eight brothers and sisters. He was raised by the streets of Tijuana and Los Angeles, and later returned south to San Diego to complete his general education at Montgomery High School.
Humberto most recently served as an M.T.S. public officer. He earned many achievements within the law enforcement field, building a career marked by dedication and steady commitment to work and to others.
He reconnected with his first love in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico. After marrying, they moved to San Diego and welcomed a loving son, Humberto “Betito” Estrada Jr. Becoming a father helped inspire him to pursue law enforcement and begin the career that followed.
Humberto loved listening to 80’s music and enjoyed going to the cinema with his son, Humberto Jr., also known as Betito. In his younger years, he liked playing friendly games of basketball. He also enjoyed working on and building off-road vehicles, and he rode motorcycles with his buddies.
A calm and collected man who was often smiling, Humberto was deeply caring and known for cracking jokes even in tough moments. He leaves a legacy shaped by these qualities and strengthened by his wisdom.
The family appreciates everyone’s sympathy and the feelings expressed during this difficult time. He will be loved and missed deeply, and he would want his memory to be nothing but joy. Grateful for everyone who was in his life, Humberto will always be in our hearts.
