August 23, 1925 to Alex and Kathleen Besenyei,
Hungarian immigrants to the U.S. She grew up in West
Virgina and Ohio, and moved to San Diego in 1944 where
she married Robert M. Bentley in 1947. She had two
daughters, Louise Castaneda and Doris Alexandros. Irene
was a bookkeeper and then worked in the accounting
department of Home Federal Savings and Loan in San
Diego for 24 years. She enjoyed gardening in her yard and
taking care of her grandchildren, Renee Rico, John
Castaneda, Jr., and Brandon Alexandros. Irene was
devoted to her family. In addition to her daughters and 3
grandchildren, she is survived by 5 great grandchildren
and 2 great-great grandchildren. Irene will always be
remembered for her generosity, kindness, and loving spirit.
