

Isaac Austero Lozada, of San Diego, passed away on December 31, 2019 at the age of 92. He was born in Cavite City, Philippines on June 3, 1927 to his father Francisco Lozada and mother Carmen Austero.
He joined the United States Navy in December of 1945 and served for over 20 years before retiring and continued to serve with the Fleet Reserve for over 45 years. He met his wife Bernabella Caparaz through a mutual friend in 1946 and courted her for 4 years before marrying in 1950 at the age of 24 years old. In 1947, while aboard a ship, Isaac was sworn in and became a US Citizen. After retiring from the Navy, Isaac was able to put his joy of cooking to use as a chef at the MWR Naval Station for over 20 years.
He is survived by his two sisters Belia and Virginia, along with his ten children: Isabel, Maria, Edwardo, Marilyn, Robert, Benedict, Myrna, Ronald, Joseph and Raquel; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Some of his hobbies were fishing, cooking, dog and horse races and going to the casino with his kids.
Isaac had a great sense of humor and dedicated his life to providing for his family. Spending time with his loved ones and hosting gatherings was very important to him. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be remembered and missed by all those he leaves behind.
A celebration of life visitation for Isaac will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. A prayer service will occur Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Skyline Church, 11330 Campo Road, Spring Valley, CA 91941. His eternal resting place will be at La Vista Memorial Park, 3191 Orange Street, National City, CA 91950 following his church service on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 12:30 PM.
