

John was born in Washington D.C. to Reu and Mary Glessner. He proudly served his country during WWII and then entered George Washington University and graduated as a Mechanical Engineer with honors. He married Helen Elizabeth (Lane) Glessner He then settled into his lifelong career as an engineer for research and development in manufacturing, also earning a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering during night classes. He later settled in San Diego and had two children, Anne (Glessner) Haas and Mathew Glessner. There he worked for Solar Turbines.
He enjoyed classical music and traveling. He had the opportunity to lecture for Solar, and visited many nations. He was also awarded an inventor for his company, and continued to give conferences globally after his retirement. Coronado was always his home base and though he had the opportunity to visit many lands and peoples, he enjoyed the quiet, quaint island. Besides his children, he is survived by three grandsons and one granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helen. John's final resting place will be at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery alongside his wife.
