

Lowell Elnoy Brown was born in Glade, Kansas to William Earl and Ruby Gladys Brown on January 24, 1924.
He Graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1942 where he played baseball, basketball, and sang in the chorus and musical productions. He spent the following summer in the St. Louis Opera chorus and hoped to become a professional singer.
He worked as a clerk at Safeway Grocery and a laboratory assistant at Co-op Refinery in Phillipsburg, Kansas before being inducted into the Navy in 1943. During 3 years of enlisted service he was ordered to Union College in New York and then Brown University in Rhode Island where he graduated with the rank of Ensign in 1946.
After attending Naval Supply Corps school in New York, Lowell served as a Supply and Dispersing officer on ships and as officer in charge of several Navy Exchanges and Commissary Stores. Lowell was stationed in San Diego , CA; Ponape, East Caroline Islands; Agana, Guam; Newport, RI; Naples, Italy; and Norfolk, VA, where he retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1967.
After 1 year in Washington state working for Sears, he moved his family back to their Lemon Grove, CA home where he took a job working for the city of La Mesa as the Public Works Dept. office manger for 20 years.
Lowell met his wife of 68 years on a blind date in San Diego, CA. They married 3 months later on September 5th, 1947. He loved a cold beer and a good steak. They both loved singing , dancing , jokes, traveling, entertaining, and baseball. GO PADRES!
Lowell is survived by his wife, Sylvia Leita (Johnson) Brown , sister Lyla (Brown) Clague, Angela Kaye Browns, their spouses, 5 grandsons, 2 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his older brother Leland in 1940.
Services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, California , 92122 on November 12, 2015 at 1:30PM. (858)658-7360
