Luz Avitia Acosta

Luz Avitia Acosta, age 89, of Chula Vista, California passed away on Saturday January 6, 2018. Luz was born January 6, 1929 in Owenyo, California to Evodio and Aurelia Millan. Born at the onset of the "Great Depression" her parents decided that a move back to Mexico would be best for the family of 8 children.

Luz and her family returned to Durango and then to Culican where where Luz spent her childhood. She was home schooled and at an early age became Mother's little helper.

Luz was the proud mother of 11 children; 2 which predeceased her, Jesus Alberto Acosta Avitia and Sergio Arturo Acosta Avitia. She is survived by 9 children; Nicolas Aispuro Avitia , Jose Luis Aispuro Avitia, Reina Alicia Lazareno Avitia, Martha Beatariz Lazareno Avitia, Adelaida del Carmen Acosta Avitia, Guadalupe Acosta Avitia, Luz Maria Acosta Avitia, Oscar Acosta Avitia and Aurelia Angelita Acosta Avitia. In addition her legacy lives on through her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving Luz are two siblings; sister Rosa Amalia Avitia Millan and brother Lamberto Felix Millan.

Although she will be greatly missed, Luz will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life and visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chula Vista, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California. On Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Jude's Shrine of the West Catholic Church, 1129 S. 38th Street, San Diego, California 92113. An interment will follow at La Vista Memorial Park, at 3191 Orange Street, National City, California, 91950.
