Mamerto A. Magsino, lovingly known as “Mer,” passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of honor, dedication, and love. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Mamerto served his country faithfully for 20 years, exemplifying integrity, strength, and selflessness throughout his military career.
Born on 10/26/1941, Mamerto lived a life guided by his deep values, unwavering faith, and love for family. After retiring from the military, he continued to be a source of wisdom, kindness, and support to all who knew him. His main priority was to take care of his handicap Daughter, Maylynn Magsino and working as a part time water purifier sales distribution for Multi pure.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jasmin A. Magsino married 55 years this coming July 2025 and his loving children: Melissa Marie Arce and Maylynn Katherine Magsino may she rest in peace (as you know she had passed away February 15th 2022) . He was also a proud father-in-law to Victor L. Arce, he was a son my dad never had. Victor and my dad would have many fond memories, they have the same views and they both bonded over home improvement projects especially on wood projects for our house. Mer was also a cherished grandfather to Jaden Arce and Everett Arce. As you noticed Mer’s greatest pride was his family, and he found immense joy in spending time with them and watching them grow. He was the oldest Son out of 10 brothers and sisters and born & raised. Mer was able to help his brothers and sisters to come to the US from the Philippines. He loved his family even his wife’s family too. Mer treated them as his own family.
Mer was so loved by his family and friends. He would be the comedian and always entertain everyone. Mer was fun loving and enjoyed working on flooring /cabinetry for homes, playing mahjong and on his spare time, selling water purifiers and working on flooring/building cabinetries such as tables & Mahjong tables!
Mamerto’s life was one of service—both to his country and to his loved ones. He will be remembered for his calm strength, generous heart, and the quiet dignity with which he lived.
Please help us honor my dad’s funeral, the funeral service will be held on June 20th at Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista followed by burial with military honors. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in honoring and celebrating his life. In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly requested to assist with funeral and medical expenses.
Mamerto A. Magsino will forever remain in our hearts as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a true American hero of 20 years in the US Navy protecting his country.
