

He was the son of Martin and Bernanda DeGuzman.
While attending The University of the East in Manila, Philippines , Marc met Norma Centeno in 1964, who was then studying at Philippine Normal University. They married in 1965 and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 15, 2025. Marc is survived by his wife, Norma and his children Allan (Norma Alarcon), Kevin (Patti Bennett) and Kelly (Justin Chaitin); grandchildren Justin and Parker DeGuzman, Avery and Seth DeGuzman, and Makayla and Maxwell Chaitin; and his great grandchild Sienna DeGuzman.
Marc earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law from the University of the East in Manila. He then pursued his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and passed the bar exam in 1972. He served as legal counsel for Manotok Realty Inc. and the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Marc had his own law office in Escolta Manila, Philippines. Upon immigrating to the United States, he attended the University of San Diego Law School. He went on to work for several law offices in San Diego specializing in immigration and personal injury, and he was the founder and owner of the Fil-Am Law Center.
Marc was deeply committed to community service, particularly within the Filipino community. He was the Chairman of the Council of Philippine American Organization (COPAO) and received numerous awards for his contributions and community services. He also was the recipient of The Presidential Business Commission Award. In his leisure time, Marc enjoyed fishing and swimming.
A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on June 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1120 Cuyamaca Ave, Chula Vista, CA, followed by a reception in the church hall. Marc will be laid to rest at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park in Honolulu, Hawaii, in August.
