Maria De Jesus Contreras

Maria De Jesus, "Chuy" Contreras, 86 years old, a longtime resident of Chula Vista, passed away on October 5, 2013. She was born in Sinaloa, Mexico on January 7, 1927 to Jose and Catalina Conchas. Maria married David Acosta Contreras, their marriage lasted 60 years. He predeceased her in 1999. Together, David and Maria raised 1 daughter; Concepcion, and three sons; Jose, Steve, and David. Her legacy includes seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Maria's greatest passion in life was her family. She especially enjoyed family gatherings at her home with her children and grandchildren. Maria, a devote Catholic, attended mass for over fifty years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and enjoyed being a member of the church choir.

Chuy was a very outgoing and humorous person, always joking and laughing with her friends. She will be remembered for her loving dedication to her family. She will be greatly missed by all. "We will miss our mother and grandmother, may God hold her in his loving arms in the Glory of Heaven."

A visitation and celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 5 ~ 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, Ca. 91911. A funeral mas will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 345 Anita St. Chula Vista, Ca. 91911. Entombment will follow at the Bible Mausoleum at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, Ca. 92112.

Following the funeral service, a gathering will be hosted at Joe and Elsian's home: 372 Canyon Ridge Drive, Bonita, Ca. 91902.
