Mary Elma Augustine

Mary grew up in Nebraska and came to California in 1953 where she met and married Edgar Augustine.

Mary was a homemaker and loved to share her sewing, baking and crochet skills with her daughters. Soups and pies were her favorites! And those cookies!

Mary was a good friend to all and shared her skills as a volunteer at Bay General Hospital in Medical Records, teaching Christian Doctrine (CCD) to Preschool age children at the Church of Most Precious Blood in Chula Vista.

She also volunteered at Birthline to provide life affirming support and resources to pregnant women and families with young children.

Mary and Edgar were blessed with five children. Paula Crabbe of El Cajon, CA, Gary Augustine of Aurora, Colorado, Cheryl Kelley of Chula Vista, CA, Michele Johnson of McKinney, Texas and Marcele Augustine of Seattle, Washington. Their spouses, Tim Crabbe, John Kelley and Steve Johnson.

Mary and Edgar had four Grandchildren, Melissa Seybert, Christopher Crabbe, Grant and Greg Johnson. Their spouses, Brett Stell, Samantha Crabbe, Liza Johnson and Talia Johnson.

Mom is soon to be Great Grandmother in September and January and through Fostering.

Mary is proceeded in death by all of her siblings, Leona Kimminau, Verna Schramm, Rose Quinn, Al Hoelting, Sister Rose Delores and Iren Menke.

Our Prayer of thankfulness for our Mother’s faithfulness, her love and devotion to her children, family and friends. We are grateful for her thoughtfulness and love to her Grandchildren. May God Bless her abundantly as she was a blessing to all of us!

May she rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mary will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

A memorial mass for Mary will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Pius X, 1120 Cuyamaca Ave., Chula Vista, CA 91911.
