95 years old, community volunteer, political activist, MIT 1941 and Wayne State University 1961 alumnus, retired civil engineer, passionate ballroom dancer, lacrosse player, strong supporter of gay (LGBT) and women's rights, staunch Democrat, Humanist Jew, World War 2 Veteran (Bronze star awardee) retired Army Reserve Colonel died peacefully on June 14, Leaves 2 daughters Aleksi Rapkin (Kevin Barre), Ellen Rapkin (Duane Buck), 2 grandchildren Manon Barre, George Buck, one great granddaughter Lilliana Buck and special friend Natalie Moynihan. Also, lots of friends from the auto shop and machine shop program at Monte Vista High School, Music Makers Barbershop Chorus, Kahal Am-Humanistic Jewish Community of San Diego and La Mesa-Foothills Democratic club. As he was very charitable, it would honor his memory by making a donation to the charity of your choice. Suggestions include Otterbein University’s Maurice and Rose Rapkin Computer Science Endowed Award, Kahal Am-Humanistic Jewish Congregation, Society for Humanistic Judaism, Planned Parenthood in San Diego or KPBS Public Radio.
