Loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, Narciso Briones, 69, passed away peacefully in his Chula Vista home on Nov 16, 2012 with his family at his bedside. He had endured a bravely fought battle with cancer.
Narciso was born on October 29, 1943 in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He moved to the US after joining the US Navy in 1966, settling down in San Diego to start his family. After serving 20 years, Narciso was honorably discharged in 1987. He then began work as an electrician for the Marine Corps. Recruit Depot in San Diego for another 24 years.
A devout Catholic, Narciso instilled in his family the importance of religion as a moral compass and continually demonstrated the power of prayer and faith.
“My husband was a firm believer that a family that prays together, stays together,” said Fatima Briones, his wife of 41 years.
Narciso loved cooking, going on road trips, as well as playing and watching basketball. In his short retirement, he enjoyed doing crossword and sudoku puzzles, playing solitaire, was an avid watcher of the Game Show Network and The Filipino Channel, and was happiest at home spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Fatima Briones, their seven children Aileen, Brenda, Diane, Eric, Gerald, Heather, and Irma, and their six grandchildren.
A "Celebration of Life" /Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, Serenity Chapel, on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 5 p.m. throughout the evening, ending at 8 a.m. Thursday, November 22, 2012. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. officiated by Father Bernard Ranoa.
