

Noemy Castillo de Burns, from San Jose, Costa Rica, passed away on July 15, 2025, with her loving family at her side. Known for her quick wit and great sense of humor, she will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, she studied to be a secretary. At 23 years of age she met the late Thomas Burns, whom she married in 1950. The couple settled first in New York, then San Francisco and finally in Mexico City. This is where they would reside for the next 40 years. She was very involved in helping low-income families, so for many years she was the vice-president of one of the chapters of the Mexico City children’s nursery programs, which she loved. She was an avid reader, loved to knit especially for her grandchildren and was an amazing cook.
Her greatest joys were raising her three children and later spoiling six grandchildren who knew her as “Lili.” She is survived by her son, Thomas Burns and wife Peggy from Dallas, her daughter Roxana Burns and husband David Grepe, her grandchildren, Jessica Grepe, Nathalie Grepe Henderson, Jennifer and Michelle Grepe, Patrick and Kevin Burns. Her great-grandchldren, Danny and Santiago Valenzuela and June Rose Henderson.
