Pedro "Pete" Ismael Alvarado

Pedro "Pete" Ismael Alvarado, 57 years of age, of Lemon Grove, California, passed away on June 30, 2014. Peter was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on January 30, 1957. Peter moved to San Diego with his family when just a boy. He graduated from San Diego High School. He married the love of his life, Maria Elena "Nena" Alvarado on April 26, 1986. Their union in marriage last 28 years and they were blessed with son, Armonto Alvarado, and daughter, Anna Luisa Alvarado. Pete, as he was known to family and friends, had many interests and hobbies. First was spending time with his family, then tending to his various fruit trees which produced a variety of fruits including lemons, guavas, peaches and avocados. His favorite thing was to pick the fruits himself and gift them to family and friends. Other passions of his were classic cars and just about anything "old school". He was a member of the "City Car Club" where he enjoyed showcasing his rides. His latest pride and joy, a 1962 white Chevy Convertible Impala.

Pete had a career with Chesapeake Fish Company, and was a familiar face to many of San Diego's best restaurants serving fresh seafood. Pete's friendly smile and hard work ethic will be missed by all those he worked with.

Pete is survived by his wife Maria Elena, his son Armonto and daughter Anna Luisa. In addition, his sister Anna Rosa Alvarado and brother Leopoldo Alvarado.

A "Celebration of Life" with visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910, on Sunday July 13, 2014 from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with a rosary vigil service at 6:00pm. A funeral mass will be given in his honor at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church located at 656 24th Street, San Diego, CA 92102 on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 10:00a.m. Eternal resting place will be Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Diego.
