

Robert James Abalos, 55 years old, of San Diego, California, passed away on July 17, 2016. He was born in New London, Connecticut, on March 10, 1961. He was the first born of five children to Francisco and Rosalia Abalos. He graduated from Montgomery High School and received an Associate Degree from Southwestern College.
On December 14, 1980, he married the love of his life, Carmen Abalos. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Leilani and Lila. Robert had a successful career working as a High Voltage Electrician for TDX, HPC and NAVFAC. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps for three years and then the United States Air Force for thirty-three years.
Robert loved spending leisure time with his family, especially his young grandchildren. His favorite cooking specialty was to bar-b-cue tri-tip for all to enjoy. He will also be remembered for his appreciation of smoking fine cigars.
Robert is survived by his spouse of 36 years, Carmen Abalos, his daughters; Leilani Abalos, and Lila Schmideke, his two son in laws, Cristian Valerio and Jesse Schmideke. His legacy includes three grandchildren; Alina Rae Schmideke, Preston Alohi Schmideke and Logan Christopher Contreras-Abalos. Surviving siblings include three brothers; Ronald Abalos, Richard Abalos, Francisco Abalos, and his sister, Cherylene Abalos.
Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey will celebrate Robert's life with a visitation on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Monday, July 25, 2016, a funeral mass will be held in his honor at St. Jude Shrine Of The West, at 10:00 a.m.
