We all have an idea of what makes a man great. Is a man great because he serves his country? Does a man become great for service to his local community? Does maintaining a strong sense of values or aiding someone when they need assistance make one great? Sometimes a man can simply love his family and provide for them and be considered great. No matter what defines a man, our Father, Husband, Grandfather, Colleague, Friend, and Neighbour was Great in every way. Our beloved Robert left this world on November 21, 2010 with no regrets. He led a full and rewarding life that included US Naval Service as a Nuclear Submariner, followed by a 28 year distinguished career as an Insurance Broker and Business Owner. During his entire working career, he was often recognized for his outstanding achievements and earned numerous awards of merit and praise from his Officers, Shipmates, Colleagues, Co-workers, and Clients alike. After his retirement in 2000, he dedicated his life to spending time with his beloved Wife (Joanne) of 45 years, his children (Christopher & Stephanie) and seven grandchildren (Jordan, Jessica, Angus, Sarah, Jasmine, Alex and Evan). He will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him as a brilliant, humble, and supportive man. Each of us has been rewarded with the time he spent with us and the things he imparted to us. Our lives are and will be richer for knowing this man! He will certainly be missed by all but never forgotten!
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on December 11, 2010 at 10:45am at the CFB Esquimalt - Ward Room, Upper Lounge, 1586 Esquimalt Road, Victoria, British Columbia.
