Timothy Joseph Mielak was a Lone Wolf, quiet and observant in that he would not allow others to take advantage of him, thus earning and keeping their respect. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Tim was realistic about life and was always at the ready, prepared to take on any responsibility that faced him.
Tim came into the world on November 30, 1953. He first greeted the world in Columbus, Nebraska. He grew up in San Jose, and San Diego, CA. Growing up in the California Foster Care system until he was of age. He was welcomed into this world by Paul and Betty Mielak. He traced his parents as an adult and was reunited with them. He spent the past 13 years enjoying time with his mother and father, continuing to spend time with his mother every Christmas through to New Years.
Tim graduated from Chula Vista Adult School in 1975 and was a man who loved learning and had much hope for his future.
Danette Janice Becker and a close friend of hers seemed to attract his attention. They had gone to visit a Teen center called the “Our House”. He told the two of them gross jokes and once Danette had become sick to her stomach and had to leave. He yelled as they were leaving, “Don’t go away mad just go away”. That was their introduction to each other. Tim was often cautious and careful about the people with whom he became close. There had to be some kind of spark for a relationship to develop. But there were more than sparks, there was magic when Tim met Dani.
Being very traditional, Tim wanted to make sure everything about the upcoming wedding was just right. He asked Danette to marry him by commenting on a commercial. He realized later that it was a very ridiculous way of asking someone to marry him but she still said yes.
The couple exchanged vows on April 3, 1977 at The Little Chapel of the Valley in Spring Valley, CA. With close friends and family in attendance. Following the ceremony, Tim and Dani enjoyed a reception at the home of her sister with all of their family and friends.
Devoted to Dani, Tim held endearing, traditional values about marriage and family life. He took the responsibility of marriage to heart, giving it his total commitment. He was a source of strength to Dani; he worked hard to make his new family happy, no matter where they called home.
Tim brought the same traditional values by which he lived his life to how he raised his own family. He was a good parent, always firm yet protective. He had 3 children, Cyndi, Wendy and Amanda. His favorite times with his kids were off-roading, and riding around with the kids in the back of his huge truck. The children would often fill Tim with pride and joy because of their accomplishments: learning how to swim and graduating from class to class and being able to make him laugh at the worst of times.
The family had several pets including, Sheila the dog, Rusty, Ozzy, Lee and Guy.
Tim tried his best to make sure the children were raised in a strict and protective environment. Their house was a 2 bedroom in Imperial Beach, CA. He was also very traditional about the holidays and vacations on which the family went. Camping in Bear Mountain, going to Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Later on in life, he was also blessed with three grandchildren, Nikolas, Sabrina, and Alexander.
Tim “Murdock” greatly enjoyed what he did for a living. He was a hard worker who expected the same work ethic from his co-workers. He was skilled at working effectively in just about every situation; this included small groups, one-on-one situations as well as solo tasks. He enjoyed dealing with concrete ideas and could penetrate any amount of fuzzy or unclear information to reach the essential facts. Always able to attend to the task at hand, he was excellent at meeting deadlines. He was an efficient worker, one who paid careful attention to details, allowing sufficient time to complete one task before moving on to the next.
Tim’s first and most interesting job was as a Welfare Caretaker who cared for a 92 year old Blind man who needed someone to be there during the night to keep him safe. His side job was working a racetrack in the South Bay cleaning the track and the pit and stadium seating. He took great care to make sure he did his job well.
Life led “Murdock” to work for Rohr Ind. in Chula Vista. His first job was in Tool and Die and from there was Assembly, and then Fabrication, where he formed Nacelles. Later, he became a Shipment Controller. His latest work was in the GTF program, where he collected information on where parts were and how to locate them for various depts.
Tim worked hard to be a team player, doing what was necessary to meet objectives. Graduated from Adult School and El Dorado College. He was willing to do whatever it took to get the job done, even if that meant going the extra mile.
During his career he became friends with Dennis, Neil, Kevin, Amy and many more.
Tim liked to experience things firsthand as well as learn about them. This trait carried over into his hobbies. He was very methodical in how he organized his activities and categorized things. Since he enjoyed his private time, Tim always tried to set aside a certain amount of time to play computer games. He was a thrill seeker who loved roller coasters {especially new ones}, Nascar, Dale Earnhardt, San Andreas Area, The Grand Canyon, and Magic Mountain. When it came to cuisine, he particularly enjoyed Coffee, Roast Beef, Amaretto, Italian Omelettes and Hash Browns with country gravy and Pepsi. His favorite movies were Horror or Charlie the Lonesome Cougar, any of the Star Trek movies, and Tron.
The music he enjoyed the most was Yanni, Reo Speedwagon, Styx, Pink Floyd, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. He also enjoyed watching his favorite athletes and sporting events, especially Nascar, Jimmy Johnson and Dale Earnhardt or football with the Raiders.
Tim “ Murdock” Mielak left us on May 23, 2011. He passed away in his home. He was 57 years old. The cause of death was stage 4 cancer. His father Paul Mielak preceded him in death. He is survived by Betty Mielak, Danette Mielak, Joseph Anderson, Cynthia Anderson, Wendy Mielak, Amanda Mielak, Crystal Britton and three grandchildren. Services handled by Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey. Tim was laid to rest at his children's home.
Many would say that "Adventurous" is a word that best describes the life of Timothy Joseph Mielak. He was committed to living a life of fun and adventure.
He committed himself to being a hard worker who expected the same effort in return from others. Most of all, he was committed to those he knew and loved.
