Domingo Jose Grullon, 61, of Roseville, California left this world much too soon Saturday September 5th at 9:50 pm due to a stroke. Domingo was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the U.S. at the age of 12 with his family. He went on to pursue career in the beauty industry as an adult. He spent the last 40 years working as a stylist, instructor, mentor, published author and counselor to many young cosmetologists beginning their journey in the world of beauty. Everyone who was lucky enough to know Domingo experienced his unmatched warmth, generosity, kindness and zest for life. He approached everything and everyone with an open heart and willingness to give of his time and vast knowledge. Creatively, Domingo had limitless abilities. He was a passionate knitter whose coat design was featured in an edition of Italian Vogue this past year. He was also an accomplished pianist, an amazing cook and an alchemist in all things homeopathic. Domingo especially loved making his clients, friends and family feel their most beautiful, be it through makeup tips, fashion advice or expert hair styling techniques. Never has the world seen a more lovely man than Domingo. His death will leave a hollow place in all who knew and loved him. In his personal life, Domingo was a very private man who preferred the company of a few true individuals rather than a large crowd. He is survived by his husband Scott A. Stuerke, his mother Gabriela Grullon, his sister Ana Morel, his brothers Emilio and Jeffrey Grullon, as well as his extended family including nieces and nephews, cousins, and his step children Bryanne and Alvaro Salazar, as well as their children Alvaro Junior and Jorge Salazar. There are so many more things one could say about how wonderful Domingo was. He saw the beauty in everything, from the birds that flew on his patio to the shapes in the clouds that he swore looked like angels. Only those who were lucky enough to be in his presence will truly understand his kind, gentle and beautiful soul, and how deeply he will be missed. A celebration of Domingo's life will be planned for a near date in the future.
