Harlan C Friesen, of Citrus Heights, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2023. Harlan was born in Meade, Kansas on August 26, 1931, to John A Friesen and Elizabeth R Claassen. His family moved to Oregon in 1943, and he attended Salem Academy and Dallas High School. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on board the USS Essex aircraft carrier in the Korean War and was assigned to a crew that flew photo reconnaissance.
Harlan met Gwendolyn Marie Adlesich in the youth group at church in 1957 at North Hollywood Evangelical Free Church and they married in 1959. Together they have four children, Mike, (Rebecca) Scott, Joanne Leighton (Brian) , and Carrie Hagerty (Bill).
He was a mechanic, with many other skills, but his favorite job was truck driving. He enjoyed woodworking, building things, helping others, and spending time with his family. He leaves the legacy of thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Harlan is survived by his younger sister Amanda Warkentine, (Walt) and younger brother Duane Friesen, (Evelyn). He precedes in death, by his son, Scott Lee Friesen and his siblings, Harold Friesen, Lando Friesen, Zelma Wall, Lavina Schenk, Mariellen Schenk and Dennis Friesen.
Memorial donations can be made in Harlan Friesen’s name to his favorite ministries, 4GenNetwork who trains evangelical pastors overseas, and to Reliant Creative who helps Evangelical churches and in their ministries with digital media and the power of storytelling.
