April 14, 1916 – April 26, 2016
Mary was born in Tempest, CO on April 14, 1916.
She was raised on the farm in Gauup, New Mexico along with her four siblings.
Mary came to California in the late 1930’s, loving the state and making it home to her.
She worked as a waitress and housekeeper in her early years, but most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and had great enjoyment with her grandchildren. Known as Grandma Mary to some, she loved them all as well.
She would be quite entertaining at times with such a sense of humor, leaving each and every one she knew with a fond memory that would always make you smile.
She had a deep faith in being a Jehovah’s Witness for 60 years; always wanting to make sure everyone read their Bible.
Having reached her final goal in life, making it to her 100th Birthday plus 12 days. She prided herself in her appearance always wanting to make sure her hair looked “OK”.
Preceded in death by her husband Frances “Philly”, her brother Frank and her sisters: Josie, Rose, and most recently Jennie.
Survived by son Frank (Betty) daughter Kitty (Herm), grandchildren, great – grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren.
She lived a long and at times hard life without complaint. Referring to herself as quote “I’m a survivor” and yes indeed she was. Staying strong and determined, if there’s a will, there’s a way. She did it her way.
We have all been so blessed to have had the pleasure of having her in our lives for so many years. She will forever live on in our hearts and all the fond memories in our minds.
It was her wish to be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
