Dr. Richard Lee Steele passed away on July 17, 2016 at the age of 80 after being diagnosed with cancer three weeks prior. Raised in Dallas, Texas he attended Rice University earning a Ph.D. in nuclear physics. After twenty six years with Areojet in Folsom, California, he retired as Vice President of the Propulsion Division. He continued to work at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory until the present.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Clinta Steele of 37 yrs. He enjoyed scuba diving, duck hunting, camping and fishing. Over the past years he loved traveling and spending time with family and friends at his vacation house in Lake Tahoe. He is survived by his sister Dr. Barbara Gainer and niece Kelly Schalla from Fredericksburg Texas, and his wife Helga Kennedy and her children Kathy and Kenny Kennedy from Auburn, California. Richard was the most incredible man and he will live in our hearts forever.
