Sirethia Shryock was born September 10, 1933 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to William and Margie Dutey. She was the youngest of ten children. She is survived by her Sister Virgie Jacobs of Lincoln, brother James Edward Dutey of Delhi, CA and sister Mary Chancellar of Porterville, CA. She married Donald Shryock of Escalon in 1954. Her husband worked and retired from the railroad industry. He preceded Sirethia in death. She owned and operated a small wholesale nursery. She was a graduate of Escalon High School and was a speaker many times throughout the community about flowers and shrubs. She enjoyed her community and was a Christian. She and her husband belonged to the Masonic family of Scottish Rite and enjoyed their activities throughout the years. The last years of her life she lived in Lincoln, CA with her nephew Jerry Jacobs.
Her hobbies and crafts were water color and pin drawing. She loved to sightsee and spent time going from Lincoln to Sanger. On July 22, 2013 while resting in her living room she passed away in her easy chair. Now she's asleep, resting in the arms of Jesus awaiting his soon return.
She will be missed by so many people, people that she loved and cared about in her community as well as family.
In her younger years she and her friend sang on the radio, KTRB stations. One of her enjoyments was music and she played several different instruments. In high School she was a member of the band. They marched in parades in surrounding communities near Escalon. Later in Life she was featured on the cover of Parade Magazine with her prize pansies that she grew seasonally, and all about her plant growing business.
Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11 AM at the Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Road, Escalon, CA. Remembrances in her memory may be made to the Sacramento Scottish Rite Masonic Center.
