Two years of missing beautiful, sweet Rebecca, have faded away.

It’s been two years, Rebecca, but the feeling of missing you has never faded. May you rest in peace.

It’s almost been 2 years since you passed away Rebecca. You are so missed & loved.

What seems like two days, a year has gone by. 

God bless sweet dear Rebecca, the daughter of the treasured, best Mother and Dad in the world, son of the world’s most beautiful, wonderful Grandmother.

My heart is with Mr. Chen on this first anniversary of Rebecca’s passing.  She was a remarkable person in every way. Sending love to all here who read this & are remembering Rebecca.

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Rebecca left us. I still think about her often, and every memory brings both warmth and a tinge of sadness. Rebecca wasn’t just a friend; she was a guiding light in my life. Her kindness and wisdom had a way of making everything better.

Even though she’s no longer here, I still feel her presence in the lessons she taught me and the love she shared. I miss her every day, and I’ll always carry her memory with me.

Rest easy, Rebecca. You’re missed more than words can say.

Hong's essence was woven from threads of resilience, grace, and an inextinguishable zest for life. Her presence, always radiant and uplifting, cast a luminous glow that brightened our world. To know her was to be touched by the gentle caress of her kindness, to be inspired by her unyielding spirit, and to witness the embodiment of authentic joy.

Her laughter, so genuine and contagious, served as an anthem of hope for all who heard it. In adversity's face, Hong’s strength never faltered. Instead, she faced challenges with a fierce determination, teaching us to find the silver lining even in life's most formidable storms.

It’s moments like those, when she expressed profound gratitude for life's simplest pleasures, that showcased the depths of her character. Hong didn't just exist; she thrived, extracting beauty from every experience and sharing her joyous discoveries with all around her.

We each hold a mosaic of memories with Hong: the wisdom she imparted, the solace she offered, and the countless moments her positivity became our guiding star. Her legacy is a beautiful tapestry of these moments, intertwined with the lives of everyone she touched.

Though her absence leaves an echoing void, we find solace in the myriad memories she bequeathed us. These recollections, painted in hues of love, joy, and resilience, serve as a testament to her remarkable journey.

Hong's physical presence may no longer grace our world, but her spirit remains undimmed, shining brightly in our hearts and minds. As we remember her, we commit to keeping her legacy alive, striving to embrace life with the same passion and grace she exemplified.

Rest in peace, dear Hong. Your spirit, forever luminous, continues to guide and inspire.

Rebecca, as I sit here in tears shocked...I know you are in a beautiful place watching saying hunny it is ok. But you don't understand how much of an amazing person and great friend you became to me.  I appreciate all of our deep talks and I'm sorry I never got to sf to do our fun day in sf. I'm so blessed to have met u. U r truly so amazing and I'm so sad to have gotten this news but I know your faith in God is huge and so I know u are where all of the angels are.  I love you Rebecca. Dear, Sweet Rebecca,

November 28, 2022.

With love.

Rebecca and I belonged to the same church - Assembly of Living God. We had the very first and last photo together on June 22, 2019 at a church picnic in Foster City. We really began to know each other during Covid when she joined our South Harbor fellowship. Although she had some health issues, she alway wore a big sweet smile. She helped me with many medical questions for my parents. She also gave me a few bottles of respiratory supplements that she invented and FDA approved. Last November, my mom was hospitalized and was in ICU. I flew back to China amid a very strict Covid restrictions and then a sudden opening up. I felt overwhelmed and helpless. Rebecca was there for me every step in providing medical advice and spirit support, as if she accompanied me throughout the Journey until my mom passed away in January.
I didn’t know that at the same time, she was facing an unimaginable difficulty. The turmoil turned her life upside down. Then she became sick with returning cancer with excruciating pain. She held her faith strong and fought hard. We communicated almost every day. I got know her more during this time. Even during her darkest days, she maintained hopeful and graceful. She told me she played violin when young. We made plan to visit Hangzhou after her recovery. Hangzhou is where I came from and also her dad’s family rooted. I organized a help group for her in May.  Brothers and sisters from our church took turns cooking and bringing food to her and her dad. She marveled at delicious meals and full hearted enjoyed them. The food, prayers and visiting brightened her days until she went to UCSF on July 29. On August 7, she had a big surgery on her neck and back. On the night before she asked for prayers. The surgery was Okay but the following recovery was not smooth. She got tired of hospital’s treatment and insisted to go home on Aug 26. She passed away peacefully at home with her dad by her side. Rest in peace, Rebecca. We will meet again in Jesus Christ.🙏

To Rebecca’s Family,

Sadly, Karen told me that Rebecca passed away.  I would like to give you, the family, and everyone @ SFNotes(HausMaus) my deepest sympathies and condolences.

I am fortunate to have worked with and privileged to have a friend in Rebecca for 20 years+, since being at SFO. Everyone here at the bookstore, including Karen and myself, will miss her always radiant smile, kind-hearted demeanor, and warm gentle presence. 

I know she went through many struggles throughout her life and tried her hardest to overcome this hurdle. She was and is one of the strongest women I know. She’s a tiny but mighty, true fighter with a huge, beautiful heart.

I’m sad that I won’t be able to see her bright smile, but I also have a sense of relief that she no longer has to suffer the pains.

Hope you are doing well and taking care during this difficult time. If there is anything we can do for you and for Rebecca, please let Karen and me know.

I’m unsure if there have been funeral/memorial services for Rebecca…but, if it’s not too late would you kindly forward the information to us. We would like to send and/or offer our final respects to our dear friend.

One Sunday in early 2000, Rebecca  went to Merced, CA to a husky breeder just to “take a look”.

Tahoe, a tiny 8 week old puppy fell asleep on Rebecca’s lap at the breeder’s house, Rebecca  fell in love with her, the rest was a 14 year loving journey.
