

Robert “Bob” Low Ching Lee, 90, of Orinda, CA, passed away in the evening of Sept. 9, 2024 while enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, watching the 49ers game on Monday Night Football, at a care home in Walnut Creek, CA.
Robert was born in the Jung San area of the Guangdong Province in China in February 1934, to On Ching and Kam Fung Yeung. He was the second of four children. He came to the United States as a teenager and attended Washington Irving Elementary in 1949, then Galileo High School graduating in 1954. He served 2 years in the Army from 1954-1956 and graduated from The Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia of the United States Army Signal Corps.
Robert attended Cogswell College from 1956-1958 and earned an Associates of Arts degree in Electronic Engineering. He met Judy in San Francisco at the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown in 1960, married in August 1963, then had 2 children, Alec and Brenda.
When the kids were young, he both worked as an engineer and attended Heald College, earning a BS in Electronic Engineering.
While working at Mother’s Cookies and BART, Robert was able to pay for his kids to go to private school then to university. Though he was a hard worker, Robert had time to spend with his family leaving many lasting memories of all the places and family vacations they traveled to.
Robert is survived by his wife Judy, children Alec (Jennifer) Lee and Brenda Lee (Jason) Wong, grandchildren Isabella Lee, Joseph Lee and Cheryl Wong, and sisters Corinne Kan, Cindy Lai and Sharon (King Bor) Tam. He was predeceased by his parents, On Ching and Kam Fung Yeung.
