He was born in Colorado City to L.J. and Dessie Barnfield Lynch on November 27, 1951
To put it simply Alfred lived his faith. He loved his God, his family, his church, and his community with all he had. He was a deacon and a choir member at the First Baptist Church in Colorado City where he attended very religiously. He had a loud carrying base voice that was both soothing and very distinguishable in a crowd. Alfred loved to pray, whether he knew you or not if he heard you needed prayer he was there to hold your hand and give a genuine heart-felt prayer. Alfred was a true Christian, not a perfect one as he was always quick to point out his own flaws, but he loved the Lord withal his heart and was always thankful for everyone and everything that God put in his life. He loved family more than anything and cherished any time together even if it was a simple evening or lunch out. He tried to thank God for every meal he had but he was especially thankful when he got to have a meal with family or friends. He also considered his church family as his extended family. He adored his wife of almost 50 years, Dana, as much a she adored him. Although things were not always easy and she is sure there must’ve been some hard times she only remembers the good. Even during tough times such as when their house burned, they both were so thankful that there was only loss of stuff which caused them to cling to each other even more. Alfred wore many hats in the community, for years he was the manager for Lonewolf Electric and after retiring was the President of the local Germania Chapter for 18 years. Those who knew him, knew his passion for baseball and that he was an amazing athlete. He played ball all through school and was even a member of the Cincinnati Reds minor league team for a short while until he came back home and coached the children in the area throughout most of his life teaching them the game of baseball and valuable life lessons. When Alfred wasn’t working or coaching he enjoyed spending time with family, going fishing, cooking, riding motorcycles, and doing woodwork, he also dabbled a bit in buying and selling his big boy toys. His faithfulness and love that he showed to all will leave a lasting impact on all that knew him.
