She was born in Sweetwater, Texas on September 27, 1923 to Guadalupe and Anastacia Deloera Badillo.
Damiana was a woman with a big heart who loved her Lord and loved her family with all she had. She was a great mother and grandmother, and just as good of a friend. If anyone she loved were sick or needed anything she was always the first one there to lend a helping hand. She was the type of woman that was full of life, she stayed independent until the end, and made sure to stay smiling all the time, never complaining, and for the most part lived a healthy, happy life. She enjoyed many things in life, such as cooking, baking, gardening and working on her yard. She also enjoyed singing, listening to music, shopping, and visiting everyone she knew. In her later years she spent countless hours keeping her mind sharp doing word search puzzles and reminiscing.
Damiana was a long time member of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City and had been a member of the Crusillistas for many years. Her loving spirit and many lessons she has taught to family over time will be cherished for years to come.
Damiana is survived by a brother Guadalupe Badillo of Arlington, by grandchildren Leticia Mitchell of Colorado City, Luis Vasquez of Colorado City, Alfonso Vasquez Jr. of Wimberly, Patricia Vasquez of Colorado City, and Marcos Vasquez of Colorado City, as well as by 10 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great- grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Velia Vasquez, 2 special friends Susan Alvarez and Norma Lozano, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Ramon Contreras, by a son Alfonso Vasquez, by an infant daughter Elida, and by a grandson Lucio Vasquez. She was also preceded in death by brothers Ascencion Badillo, Gabriel Badillo, Martin Badillo, and Ramon Badillo, and by 2 sisters Soyla Badillo and Lena Badillo.
