She was born on December 12, 1956 in Beeville Tx to Marcelino and Maria Petis Garcia.
Guadalupe was raised in the small town of Skidmore, TX and attended Skidmore-Tynan ISD. She later attended Coastal Bend College in Beeville, TX earning her license in cosmetology. After graduating she worked at Juanita's as a cosmetologist and Hairdresser for many years.
As a child she grew up on farms and would go with her parents to the cotton fields, being too little to help she would often play while they did the work.
In her younger years she was a youth teacher at her church and had considered becoming a nun. She sang and played her guitar at her childhood church Immaculate Conception in Skidmore. Later on she was a teacher's aide and worked as a cook.
Guadalupe was undeniably gifted. She had a knack for crafts and enjoyed sewing. Her love for music and singing had no bounds and her voice is well known to many and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed reading her bible and missalettes. Her daughter would also peek in and see her studying her music books preparing her music for the next Sunday. And now and again would rearrange her bedroom furniture late at night. That was just her custom. And would blast the radio to her favorite Tejano station while she cleaned. She would sing along to every song she knew that came on the radio. She loved to laugh and her eyes would sparkle when she did.
She worked hard to care for her only child. Playing her guitar and singing at weddings, quinceañera’s and funerals for the extra expenses so that her daughter wouldn't have to go without. When she was determined to do something, she did it. If you told her that she couldn't she would prove you wrong.
She was kind and polite to everyone she met. She loved her family and friends and missed them anytime she moved farther away from them and would think about them often. She loved her grandchildren, deeply and was an amazing grandmother.
She was a kind, stubborn, beautiful, loving, caring and wonderful human being and she will be tremendously missed.
She is survived by her husband Henry Rivera of Colorado City, by her daughter Anastasia Amador-Kress and husband John of Dubuque Iowa, her step-son Adam Rivera, and by grandchildren Esaias Amador, Salome Amador, Rebelle Amador, Johann Amador-Kress, and Camilo Amador-Kress, and step-grandchildren Ford Rivera and Brady Rivera.
