He was born in Loraine, Texas on March 27, 1967 to John and Shirley Rushing McCartney.
Jake was a simple man who enjoyed a small town atmosphere. He could be a bit stubborn from time to time and crazy as hell but loved his family. He was somewhat of a loner, enjoyed living the bachelor life with his beloved Chihuahua. He was a hardworking man doing handy-work for several local businesses in town. In his spare time he could be found enjoying a good movie, especially if it was an old western, and spending time with animals. Though he liked to spend time alone and reflecting he was always willing to help someone in need and would give the shirt off his back if it would help somebody. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
Jake is survived by his brothers Jack McCartney and wife Charlotte of Sweetwater, J.D. MCartney of Robstown, and Jasper McCartney also of Robstown. By sisters Jeanie Leverett and boyfriend Matt Halford of Corpus Christi, Kay Leverett and husband James Leverett Jr. of Robstown, and Janet McCartney-Imhoff and husband Jacob of Corpus Christi, as well as by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters Judy McCartney and Johnnie Diamond.
No services have been scheduled at this time as his life will be celebrated by his family at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kiker Seale Funeral Home.
