She was born in Loraine, Texas on April 25, 1949 and was a daughter of Ace and Mildred Lee.
Jeanette was a great mother, grandmother, and aunt who was always there for her family. She loved her God and was no stranger to a hard day’s work as a billing and coding expert in the hospital. While she did enjoy the simpler things in life such as reading, dancing, and doing yard work, she found the greatest joy in raising and teaching her family the most important lessons while they were growing up. A prankster at heart she even made sure to teach her children the art of toilet-papering. She was a very skilled mother as well as protective, teaching her children to cook, dance, that they would get caught if they were trying to sneak in or out of the house, and giving solid advice when it was needed. Her kind, fun loving nature made her easy to get along with, so all her daughters friends loved her, and everyone wanted her caring for their babies. One of the most important lessons she taught her family came later in life which was to face all your trial, tribulations, and illnesses head on with a positive outlook. Her legacy will live on through all who loved her.
Jeanette is survived by a son Shawn McGowan of Louisiana, daughter Mindy Chamness of Midland, an unofficial bonus daughter Cindy Walterscheid, by three grandchildren Joshua Wollaston, Chance McGowan, and Bryson McGowan, as well as by a sister Sandy Dickard and husband Hall of Colorado City, and by three nieces Joni Haren, Kendra Dickard, and Lindsey Jobe.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ace and Mildred Lee, by her son Laval Umfress, by a brother Mike Lee and by a sister Debbie Warren.
A graveside service for Jeanette will be held on Tuesday, August 12th at 10 am in the Loraine Cemetery with Gospel Preacher Foy Forehand of the 22nd and Austin Church of Christ officiating.
