Abilene – Mrs. LaVerne Blassingame of Abilene, died Friday, March 16, 2012 in an Abilene hospital. Services will be at 2 PM Monday, March 19, 2012, in the Kiker-Seale Chapel with Dr. Don Greenway officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blassingame was born April 19, 1945 in Sweetwater to Deuane and Nadine Posten Carlson and had been a resident of Abilene since 1994. She married Bill Blassingame on March 7, 1964 in Sweetwater. She was a retail sales associate for Wal-Mart for Several years and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Abilene.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Blassingame of Abilene; a son, Heath and wife Diana Blassingame of Colorado City and a daughter, Shelley Blassingame of Houston; a sister, Brenda and husband, Darrell Carpenter of Colorado City; 5 grandchildren: Bethany Blassingame, Jonathan Blassingame, Mackenzie Douglas, Arabella Douglas and Trinity Douglas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Glenda Parmley.
