Colorado City – Mrs. Mamie Lou New, age 97, of Colorado City, died Saturday morning, March 19, 2011, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder. Services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the Kiker-Seale Chapel with Mr. Royce Clay officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. New was born June 17, 1913, In Buford, Texas to Sam and Mattie Killian Bedford and had been a lifelong resident. She married James Marion New on January 17, 1942 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1965. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Abilene Christian University and her Master of Science Degree from East Texas State University. She taught school for 10 years at Looney and 36 years at the Colorado Middle School and was a member of the 22nd & Austin Sts. Church of Christ.
She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth, and husband, Truman Wilson of Snyder and several cousins.
