He was born in Hico, Texas on November 19, 1950 to Melvin and Wanda Hamilton Arnett.
Michael was a hard-working man who always put his family first. Just before his 19th birthday Michael joined the United States Army where he spent almost 3 years earning his National Defense Service Medal and became an expert marksman and sharpshooter. He married Laura Lynch in 1975. After his discharge Michael spent his years as a heavy machinery operator. When Michael was not working he was still working, doing all sorts of repairs as he could fix just about anything, though he preferred not to mess with electrical things, never hiring so-called experts when he could do it himself. If Michael took off of work, he always had a good reason, which was for the love of family. He only missed work for family weddings, to take his family on vacation, or to go watch his girls play softball.
Michael was a great provider for his family, he worked to provide them with just about anything they wanted, but even more he was there for them when they needed him which showed just how important they were to him and how much he loved them. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather his family could imagine having. Raising his family he was stubborn but fair, not liking to discipline the children. In his spare time Michael enjoyed playing spades, riding motorcycles, bragging about his family, helping others in need, going to Houston or to the beach, listening to music, and singing while playing his guitar, which he was exceptional at even with two nub fingers on his left hand. He was truly a man of men, the type they don’t make any more. He will be truly missed by those he shared his life with.
Michael is survived by his daughters Amie Arispe of Colorado City and Brandi Martinez and husband Charles of Lubbock, by grandchildren Daniell White and husband CJ of Dallas, Robert Arispe of Colorado City, Jonathan Arispe of Colorado City, Anastasia Hawkins-Mendoza and husband Cris of Amarillo, Jayli Hawkins of Sweetwater, Brantlee Martinez of Lubbock, and Tyzane Hill of Abilene, as well as by his great-grandchildren Jess, Tristan, Avilio, Jasiah, and Junior. Several nieces, nephews, and dear friends are also left to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Wanda Arnett, his wife of 42 years, Laura Arnett, a great-granddaughter Lealand Arispe, a great-grandson Gio Arispe, a brother Billy Arnett, and by a sister Bobbie Tharp.
A Celebration of Michael’s life will by held on Friday, March 15th at 2pm in the Kiker Seale Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a memorial ride.
